"WE’Resilient Cities", a Start-up Competition
On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the LCEC would like to share the following opportunity launched by the World Bank Group: the “WE’Resilient Cities” is a start-up competition whose objective is to select the best ventures for urban resilience and turn them into opportunities by offering business support to selected teams. The competition covers three cities in the MENA region, Cairo, Beirut, and Djibouti. Competing teams should be women-led teams, and the winner would receive a financial award ranging between 30,000$ and 100,000$. The deadline for the submission of applications is 10 April 2015. LCEC encourages all women and women-led teams (prestart-ups or start-ups) to join this competition. “Resilience” is the capacity of a city to adapt to economic, social, and environmental shocks. LCEC echoes the voice of the World Bank Group: “RESILIENT ENTREPRENEURS MAKE RESILIENT CITIES”. For more info and to apply, check the initiative’s web site: http://www.weresilient.org.
